Greetings to my fellow gardeners! I’ve switched hats of a sort and now serve as the Plant Promotion Chair. As I write this article I must remind myself that you will be reading it in the middle of winter.

By now, you might be aware that the OAGC fall 2006 bulb order wasn’t quite what we had anticipated. We used a new vendor for the fall 2006 bulb sale, and the response wasn’t up to par from previous years. But, don’t be dismayed. Our profit margin was up! So even if our sales fell short; our proceeds from your purchases helped OAGC’s General Fund! So we are going to use the Doornbosch Brothers again and hopefully you will see more selections to your liking.

Please use my address,  if you ever have any problem with your bulb order. Doornbosch offers first quality bulbs and plants but sometimes a gardener must realize that there might be occasional growing concerns. Next spring, if your bulbs show poor growth, no growth, or incorrect color please inform me so that I can work with the company to make you a happy customer. Please watch in the spring issue of The Garden Path for my article where I will give you deadlines for concerns you will might have with your 2006 fall bulb order. By then I will be completely settled into my new position.

While you are enjoying the quiet afternoons in January watching the snow fall, I’ll be counting and sorting bulb brochures/books, printing and peeling address labels, licking envelopes and rushing off to the post office to send our spring bulb order drive out to you! So watch your mailbox for the spring planting brochures from me and take the afternoon off! Brew a hot cup of tea or hot chocolate, fill out your order blank, turn it into your club’s bulb chair, sit back and wait for your order to arrive! Don’t forget to share your brochure/booklet with a friend or neighbor! Tell her that she needs some “new bloomers” and that her old ones are starting to look a little drab!
