Moribana style of Japanese Flower arranging

MORIBANA (piled up) - Arrangements are in low bowls, flowers held by kenzans (pin holders) or shippos. The container is usually divided into four sections and one quarter is used. Pin holders should not be obvious, but also should not be “collared” with plant material. The designs are usually Upright, Slanting or Cascading styles. The usual measurement of 11/2 times the width and height of the container remain a good guideline, but there are exceptions depending upon the school studied and the style being used. The Moribana design may or may not have water showing (depending on how the schedule is written.)
