Mamas in the Garden Club

Life was peaceful, serenity reigned,

But our dreams were shattered, our peace disdained

Before, we were calm and all went well;

Then one fateful day - - the blow fell.

Mama – joined – THE GARDEN CLUB.

The doorbell chimes; the telephone buzzes

Garden Club is all she doeses;

She flashes here and dashes there

Garden Club news stacked everywhere

Mama  -- joined --  THE GARDEN CLUB.

Our lawn dug up; all piled with dirt,

Mama in jeans and faded shirt,

Digs and plants and prays for showers,

While yelling “Stop walking on my flowers”

Mama – is – in – THE GARDEN CLUB.

Our typewriter gallops; she was just inspired

It matters not who’s hungry or tired

Odorous bug sprays perfume the air

No plant or bush is beyond repair

Mama – is – in – THE GARDEN CLUB.

Yes, life was peaceful; serenity reigned

Our dreams are shattered, our peace disdained,

But at last we’ve accepted her floral desires

We’ve surrendered to the cause; Mama still conspires

For you know – Mama- is – in THE GARDEN CLUB
