• The IRS will be revamping the electronic filing system for all 990 tax returns from Jan 1 to Feb 29, 2012. NO 990 tax filings can be done electronically during this time, and that includes the 990 E-postcard. Garden Clubs that have a fiscal year ending Sept 30, 2011, should file their returns before December 31, 2011. There is an extension form (found at www.irs.gov ) which will grant extension of filing until March 30, 2012. Penalities may be imposed if not filed on time or extension granted.

• I recently met a recipient of an OAGC Scholarship, Mark House. He is the assistant manager at Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati. He stated that receiving our scholarship ($1,000.00) changed his life. It was much needed and very much appreciated. He was so thankful for the assistance we gave him. He does some side jobs teaching at Cincinnati State College and consulting about indoor plantings.
