As members of the Apple Valley Garden Club, we share our love of gardening, expand our knowledge of the natural world around us, and enhance the beauty of our community. Whether you love digging in soil and caring for plants, or designing floral arrangements, or communing with nature—the Apple Valley Garden club has it all.


Our regular service projects include: ● Maintain and improve Apple Valley Memorial Garden ● Plant and decorate Howard flower containers ● Decorate Apple Valley Club House for winter holidays ● Deliver vases of members’ flowers to area nursing homes ● Participate in and volunteer for the Knox County Garden Clubs Flower Show ● Decorate a holiday tree to raise funds for Food for the Hungry ● Host booth at our local Johnny Appleseed Bazaar, featuring handmade or homegrown items ● Hold community Plant Sale in spring ● Volunteer for Red Cross Blood Drive

February 18: Raised Bed Gardening with speaker Eric Larson, landscape designer

March 18: Protect Yourself from Vector-borne Diseases: Ticks, Mosquitos, and Other Disease Carriers in the Garden with speaker Starr Roden, RN, Knox County Health Dept.

April 15: Club Excursion—Spring Wildflower Walk at Honey Run Falls with Brandon Schroder, Natural Resource Manager, Knox County Park District

May 2, 8 am –1 pm: Apple Valley Garden Club Plant Sale, Apple Valley Memorial Garden (next to AV POA headquarters, off Rt. 36) May 20: Container Gardening with Herbs with Susan Liechty, Master Gardener, Delaware County

June 17: Club Excursion to a local garden—Art in the Garden

July 15: A Glimpse of Our Past through Fossils with Rick Novak, Master Gardener, Richland County

August 19: Club Excursion—Branstool Orchards, Utica

September 23: Make Your Own Herb-infused Vinegar and Installation of Officers The Club continues to grow, with new members joining us throughout the year to enjoy our lively monthly meetings, engaging programs about gardening and the natural world, occasional field trips, and numerous service projects to enhance our community.
