About Wahkeena Nature Preserve
In 1931 Dr. Frank Warner of Columbus gave his new bride, Carmen Hambleton, an unusual wedding gift 94 acres of old farmland in southern Fairfield County. Mrs. Carmen Hambleton Warner named the property “Wahkeena”. Come and experience these incredible natural habitats, an informative nature center, and numerous gathering spaces for people to come together and experience the beauty and wonder of the natural world.

Junior Gardeners can look forward to:
Learning about the Hocking Hills region
Visiting the nature center to learn about the area wildlife and native plants
Walking trails and a floating boardwalk loop

Deadline for Registration is May 31, 2024. All OAGC Junior gardeners and junior individual members are invited to join this event. There is no charge to attend just bring a sack lunch, bottled water will be provided. Juniors must be accompanied by a parent or other adult, one adult for multiple juniors is fine. Permission forms may be obtained from Robin Rick. Each junior must give their leader a permission form completed and signed by their parent.
