For 150 years, Lakeside Chautauqua has welcomed families to the shores of Lake Erie to take part in an experience dedicated to nurturing mind, body and spirit. Lakeside is a historic community in northwest Ohio that offers an abundance of spiritual opportunities, educational lectures, cultural arts performances and recreational activities year-round for both families and groups of all sizes. The itinerary for out Gardeners’ Day Out will include guided and self-guided tours of the gardens of Lakeside, gardening related programs, a keynote lecture by Doug Tallamy, music, the Northwestern Gladiolus Society Show and plenty of free time to enjoy all that Lakeside Chautauqua has to offer.

1:30-2:30 Get Growing! Presentation: “Garden Thrills at Cedar Point Amusement Park”
3:00-4:30Self-guided Garden Tour along Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile
4:30-7:30 Free Time! Go swimming, eat ice cream, play shuffleboard, shop, explore, or relax on the lakefront deck.
4:30-5:30 Free Shuffleboard Lessons
7:30 Keynote speaker – Doug Tallamy at Hoover Auditorium
Tallamy is Professor and Chair of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware and co-founder of Homegrown National Park. Chief among his research goals is to better understand the many ways insects interact with plants and how these interactions determine the diversity of animal communities.
